Converter circuit arrangement

Abstract

A converter circuit arrangement suitable for interfacing a photovoltaic converter connected to a pair of input terminals (1, 2) with the a.c. mains connected to a pair of output terminals (3, 4) comprises a flyback converter (5, 6, 7, 8) and a polarity reverser (13) which ensures that the output polarity of the converter always accords with the instantaneous polarity of the mains. The durations of the periods during which the converter switch (6) is closed are arranged to be directly proportional to the instantaneous mains voltage, thereby ensuring that the current waveform fed to the mains is substantially sinusoidal and in phase with the mains voltage. <IMAGE>
