Bedsteads convertible into seats; extensible seats.-A chair, convertible into a bedstead, comprises end frames 1, 2 connected by slidable sections 3 - - 7 arranged in pairs. A load-supporting frame 15 is carried by the members 5 and is covered by a similar frame 16, loosely connected at 17, 18 to the end frame 1, when the device is in use as a chair. Fig. 3 shows the chair converted into a bedstead, the bed bottom being completed by turning down the hinged chair back 14. The slidable sections 3 - - 7 may be connected by tongues and grooves so as to prevent relative vertical or lateral movement. When the chair is partially extended, it may be used as a settee.
